The Idro Lake and Valle Sabbia are characterized by great variability of natural elements.
The morphology of soils, vegetation, flora and fauna are extremely diverse.
You only need few steps away from one place to another in order to see the landscape changing.
To appreciate the beauty of the area, its descriptions are not enough: you have to see and live them by yourself.
Still today there are many varieties of trees and flowers found nowhere else.

The work
Life in these harsh and wild areas has always been difficult. The man had to adapt himself to the environment and find the best solutions to live with it.
This led to the great respect that even today the local population has for its territory and the attention that has in order to keep it intact.
The prudent use over centuries of woods, meadows and pastures, the cultivation of orchards and vineyards has given the possibility to the territory to not lose its natural characteristics.
There are many remaining examples of the architecture produced by human labor.
In many ethnographic museums in the area you can trace the history of civilization and its local labor, from sheep farming to wood work, from bovine breeding with products derived from milk to the production of ancient objects made of iron and copper, to brass and plastic ones of nowadays.

Culture

 The Italian Touring Club has estimated the presence in Italy of 3,500 museums, 2,000 archaeological sites, 20,000 historic centers , 40,000 fortresses and castles, 95,000 churches, 1,500 monasteries, 30,000 historic homes and thousands of libraries and archives . Besides these major products there are also the so-called minor arts, leading elements of the urban and the rural network. Among them some deserve attention: the furniture and furnishings religious testimonies of industrial civilization, as well as modern architecture and works of man placed in natural environments.
Near the residence there are many benefits of culture, churches and castles, libraries and museums, filled with works that can be called minor art, but often represent unique examples of human production.
